Grade 3 breast cancer no chemotherapy

Not all people with breast cancer will need chemotherapy. But doctors may recommend it for certain situations, such as before surgery to shrink a tumor and after surgery to kill any remaining cancer cells.

There are three basic subtypes of breast cancer:

• hormone receptor-positive
• triple-negative
• HER2-positive.

Except for small, very early stage cancers that haven’t spread to the lymph nodes, most people with triple-negative and HER2-positive breast cancer require chemotherapy.

This gives them the best chance of not having their cancer spread or return.

Chemotherapy may play less of a role for people with hormone receptor-positive breast cancer as this type of breast cancer is typically treated with anti-estrogen medications.
